About us
Mau Innovation wants to ensure that knowledge from Malmö University makes a difference and improves our society. Together with researchers and students, we transform research results and ideas into products, methods, processes, and services that create value and contribute to solutions for societal challenges.
Malmö University is an open, innovative, and cross-border university that tackles complex issues and societal challenges. Through research-based knowledge, critical reflection and action, Malmö University contributes to a more sustainable and equal society. Mau Innovation’s contribution is to turn knowledge into societal benefit, to ensure that research results and ideas are given the best prerequisites to be used in society and contribute to a better future.
Innovation – more than just new ideas
Mau Innovation supports researchers, students, and other employees at Malmö University, who want to develop their ideas or create societal benefit with their research. Our support is designed to lead to tangible results, whether it’s a societal benefit, social change, business benefit or intellectual property rights. We take no ownership of your project, and our support is free of charge. You can also rest assured that what you tell us will be handled confidentially within our unit.
Our overall goal is to contribute to a more sustainable and equal society where we, in collaboration with other societal actors, create and share knowledge to understand, explain and develop our society. To address today’s complex societal challenges, we need to draw on different perspectives and competencies and develop solutions together. Sustainability, whether social, environmental, or economic, is, therefore, one of the cornerstones of the processes and methods we develop and create at Mau Innovation.

Our governmental mission
In 2018, Malmö University was given the opportunity to set up an Innovation Office. The Innovation Office is aimed at researchers, students, and other employees with the task of increasing the utilization of research-based knowledge. The government’s motivation for establishing Innovation Offices at Swedish universities is to make the utilization of research more efficient and thus contribute to creating benefits for society. At Malmö University, Mau Innovation is responsible for carrying out the government’s Innovation Office mission.
