Storm is a resource for everyone working or studying at Malmö University. We encourage new ideas and creativity, offer support within design and concept development and develop methods and tools to drive Malmö University’s innovation and utilization work forward.

LEAPFROGS MALMÖ

Leapfrogs Malmö is a 40,000 SEK scholarship that gives students resources to test their ideas.

The scholarship allows recipients to dedicate their full-time efforts from June to August to testing and developing their societal-benefitting concepts. Beyond financial support, participants receive coaching, idea development workshops, and a valuable network of fellow students.

New CEO of Mau Holding announced

The first employee of Mau Holdings has been appointed. Aron Podavka will be the new CEO of Malmö University’s holding company, taking up the role in the new year. Aron sees his new role as an opportunity to contribute to an ecosystem where research and entrepreneurship can meet and grow together.

Society-focussed research projects on IVA’s 100-list 2024

Two researchers at Malmö University – Arezoo Sarkheyli-Hägele and Caroline Wigren-Kristoferson – have been honoured with a place on the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences 100 list for 2024. The list highlights contemporary research and aims to make it easier for researchers and the private sector to create innovation and business opportunities together.

SOCIETAL IMPACT LAB

Societal Impact Lab is an idea development lab for researchers at Malmö University. The lab aims to promote researchers’ work with utilisation, aiming for their research results to be implemented and disseminated in society for sustainable long-term societal benefit.

Cancer also affects family members – prompting new model for tailored support

A cancer diagnosis is hard for the person affected, but family members also need to be considered and supported. In a new thesis, Maria Samuelsson has developed a model for how relatives of patients with colorectal cancer can be helped with the trauma.

Mau Holding invests in company developing rapid diagnosis of skin diseases

Malmö University is investing in medical device patches set to be used in the diagnosis of inflammatory skin diseases and, potentially, in the future, skin cancer. It is being developed by Sensach AB and is currently being tested for contact allergies in a hospital environment.

New lab to meet societal challenges through research

Malmö University will establish a Societal Impact Lab in partnership with Swedbank’s Owner Foundation Skåne. The lab, which is a one-year idea development programme, has the objective of harnessing the University’s research for sustainable long-term societal benefit to tackle societal challenges.

Closer to reusable pregnancy tests

The first business Malmö University’s holding company invested in, the life science company Pharmista Technologies AB, has received four million Danish kroner to be able to produce a prototype of a pregnancy test that will be able to be used multiple times.
