Support for doctoral students
Are you seeking support in developing your project, clarifying its potential impact, or identifying interdisciplinary collaborators? As a doctoral student at Malmö University, you are offered tailored support based on the unique needs and conditions of your project.
Our support is founded on mutual collaboration and serves as a complement to the academic research training provided within your doctoral studies.
Tailored support
Are you exploring a new method, product, or service and interested in mapping out the options and opportunities available to you? Book a meeting with one of our innovation advisers and begin your journey towards research impact.
Stöd för doktorandgrupper
In addition to our tailored individual support, we also offer group-based support. Below is a summary of some of the activities we provide for doctoral student groups, suitable both for those within the same academic discipline and for cross-faculty collaboration.
Impact and knowledge utilisation
How can your research be applied beyond academia? To help identify who might benefit from your work and how you, as a doctoral student, can make use of the knowledge you’ve acquired outside the academic sphere, we offer workshops focused on the societal relevance of research and transferable skills.
The format is tailored to your needs within these areas and can be adapted to suit the number of participants.
Meeting place and community
Malmö University strives to be a sustainable and creative workplace and learning environment. At MaU Innovation, we believe that creativity flourishes through meaningful encounters and a sense of joy in work. One of the activities we support is the creation and facilitation of spaces where you, as a doctoral student, can connect with fellow researchers.
These gatherings provide a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration. The format is needs-driven and developed in partnership with participants.
Forum for
interaction
This activity is inspired by the speed dating format, where participants pitch their research to one another in rapid, timed sessions. The aim is to encourage knowledge exchange and highlight overlaps and opportunities for collaboration.
Doctoral Course: Research Impact in Society
Spring 2026
This course aims to provide doctoral students with a critical understanding of the value of societal impact and various planning methods, evaluating, and managing it in relation to their own research field.
The course also offers students the opportunity to develop their ability to articulate societal impact in a reflective manner, design an impact plan for their research, and communicate it effectively to relevant stakeholders.
